Grounding Transformers

Drive Isolation Low Efficiency

Grounding transformers are essential components in electrical installations, particularly in power generation systems such as solar, wind, or traditional generators. They play a critical role in maintaining system reliability and safety by providing "effective" grounding, as defined in Article 100 of the NEC Code, in three-phase three-wire systems.

In photovoltaic (PV) and other distributed energy systems, traditional inverters often lack a solid neutral connection, leading to voltage imbalances and ineffective grounding. HPS addresses these challenges with custom magnetic grounding devices, typically configured as zig-zag or autotransformers. HPS Grounding Transformers ensure a stable, low-impedance path to ground, stabilizing the system under fault conditions and supporting safe and reliable operation.

Why use a Grounding Transformer?

Grounding transformers are essential in distributed energy resources systems like solar systems, battery energy storage systems, and generators. HPS grounding transformers provide reliable and effective solutions to the challenges of ungrounded Delta or Wye generation systems, enhancing safety, reliability, and operational stability.

Key Benefits

Protect Sensitive Equipment

Prevent overvoltage and stabilize the neutral point to safeguard critical components during faults.

Improve System Durability

Limit transients and overvoltage disturbances while providing a reliable path for fault currents.

Minimize Disruptions

Withstand faults until breakers trip or inverters detect issues, ensuring continuous system operation.

Operate with Confidence

Establish a stable neutral and support single-phase loads for seamless, balanced, and safe energy use.
