As electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure expands, transformers play a critical role in powering EV charging stations with reliable, efficient energy. HPS EV charging transformers deliver seamless power, durability, and high energy efficiency for level 1-3 charging applications.

HPS transformer in EV installation in all weathers

With advanced dry-type transformer technology and tested enclosures designed to withstand harsh outdoor environments such as blowing snow and rain, HPS EV charging transformers deliver reliable performance to support the demands of electric vehicle infrastructure.

Resolve Common EV Charging Demands

Harmonic Load Management

Certain EV chargers can introduce high harmonic currents, leading to potential overheating in transformers. HPS offers K-factor and harmonic mitigating transformers to help manage these harmonic loads.

Environmental Durability

Standard HPS EV charging transformer enclosures are rated for both indoor and outdoor use. For extreme weather conditions such as blowing snow, rain, and sleet, HPS offers outdoor solutions designed for enhanced durability and protection. In warmer climates, low-temperature rise options help prevent overheating, ensuring steady performance.

Visual Integration

HPS offers a range of enclosure color options to match the look of modern EV charging stations.

The Most Rugged Outdoor Enclosure that meets Energy Efficiency Standards

Our 3RE+ is designed, tested, and built for real-world, harsh weather conditions.

Features of a 3RE plus enclosure
  • Built to Brave the Elements: Withstand the toughest elements—rain, wind, sleet, and snow—with a rugged enclosure that can handle wind speeds up to 120 km/h and snow particles as tiny as 350 microns.*
  • Sealed Against Dust: Protect internal components from airborne dust and debris, ensuring long-term transformer performance even in dry, high-traffic areas.
  • Secure by Design: A protective enclosure with filters and louvers blocks access to live components to enhance protection in publicly accessible areas.

*While our enclosure is designed to withstand severe weather conditions, we recommend consulting with our experts to ensure proper protection for your specific needs.

  • Meet or exceed U.S. Department of Energy (DOE 2016) 10 CFR Part 431 efficiency standards and comply with the latest Canadian Energy Efficiency Regulations (SOR/2018-201) as of NRCan 2019.
  • Single phase from 15 kVA to 333 kVA, three phase from 15 kVA to 1000 kVA
  • 150°C temperature rise
  • 220°C insulation class
  • Options for low temperature rise to accommodate varying environmental conditions
  • Standard aluminum windings, with optional copper windings available for enhanced performance
