The show was a great opportunity for HPS to meet with their customers and other attendees. HPS supplies a number of important dry-type magnetic products to the solar market including reactors, isolation/step-up and auto transformers, grounding devices and medium voltage power transformers. HPS magnetic products are used in multiple areas within a typical solar system, including inverters and at the point of grid tie-in.

HPS demonstrated some of their new technologies at their booth. New efficiency regulations from the Department of Energy in 2016 has resulted in revamped designs for low voltage distribution (Sentinel series), as well as medium voltage distribution (Millennium and EnduraCoil series) transformers.

The highlight of the HPS booth was a medium voltage EnduraCoil cast coil transformer that would typically be used to connect a commercial or utility scale solar project to the local medium voltage power grid. The dry-type construction offers solar installers several advantages over oil filled transformers, including fewer environmental hazards, and less costly site preparation and maintenance.

HPS looks forward to working with our customers in the solar industry on future products and connecting with customers next year at Solar Power International 2017 in Las Vegas.
