What types of performance issues arise with dV/dT filters?
A dV/dT filter is designed to be installed in series with the output of a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). It therefore must have a full load current rating greater than or equal to the full load output current rating of the VFD.
If the motor leads are longer than 1000 feet the dv/dt filter user must measure the overvoltage at the motor terminals to confirm that it is at a safe level.
Some dv/dt filters have limitations on maximum VFD carrier frequency and output frequency above which they could overload and overheat due to excessive losses
