What is an HPS 3RE+ enclosure?

The HPS 3RE+ enclosure is an enclosure enhancement developed by Hammond Power Solutions. While based on a standard Type 3R enclosure, the 3RE+ is not an industry standard designation—it represents a specialized solution engineered by HPS for superior performance in demanding outdoor environments.

The 3RE+ enclosure is UL-certified and designed to help protect transformers from snow, rain, dust, and debris. Key features include:

• Louvers with integrated filters to help block airborne dust and debris while limiting access to internal components for improved safety in public areas.
• Top-entry filters that provide additional protection against wind-driven rain and snow.
• Bottom filters that help guard against ground-level moisture and debris.

Tested to withstand blowing rain and snow up to 120 km/h and block snow particles as small as 350 microns, the HPS 3RE+ enclosure delivers added durability and protection—without added complexity. It is available for transformers 75 kVA and above.
